小学教育好吗？
个人觉得，小学的教育应该更偏重于“立德树人”，而不是“拔高提高”。 当然我们现在的教育体制下，很难做到这点，各种选拔考试，使得学校、老师、家长都只关注成绩，而忽视了人格的养成。
但作为一名在乡村小学任教十年的老教师，我深深感到，其实很多能力比知识更重要。我培养的学生里，有高考考进北大清华的，也有考不上大学的；但是考上大学以后，进入社会后，那些考进知名学府的人反而不如那些考不上的人。原因何在呢？名校毕业的有优越感，瞧不起人，不会与人合作，事非要做自己做才痛快，这样的人怎么能在竞争激烈的社会中生存呢？相反，我的学生里有好几个虽然是农村出身，但为人善良正直，做事踏实诚恳，虽然文化水平不高，但是在社会上混得都非常不错。
所以我常常想，知识的获取不在于知识的本身，而在于获得知识的过程。而这个过程，是可以在课堂外获得，而不单指课本。所以我在课堂上从来不会把教科书上的内容完全讲授完，而是留一部分给学生自己探索，或者让学生自己找到答案。例如，学语文时会留出一部分作文题目由学生自行设计，学数学时会有很多开放性问答。 我希望 my students can learn how to think instead of just absorbing knowledge. But this is very difficult in a rigid test-based system like China's. I am also disappointed that the education we provide isn't what it used to be， and there are so many things we can no longer teach because they are not on the exam paper. What we can do however，is to make sure our class time is filled with discussion，activity，and meaningful assignments rather than rote memorization. This way at least，we give students an opportunity to express their ideas，to develop their thinking skills，and to show us their creativity. And for me，that makes teaching extremely rewarding.
